Hong Kong Wetland Park

Hong Kong Wetland Park located at the northern part of Tin Shui Wai, in Yuen Long. It was to be an ecological mitigation area (EMA) for the wetlands lost due to Tin Shui Wai New town development.
The Hong Kong Wetland Park is divided into 2 parts, Visitor Centre – Wetland Interactive World and Wetland Reserve.


Visitor Centre – Wetland Interactive World
 
There are altogether five galleries in the Visitor Centre, showing you five different aspects of wetlands. Exhibits in this area provide visitors with an overview on the functions and values of wetlands, the Ramsar Convention, and the importance of wetlands to wildlife.

Wetland Reserve

Visitors can follow designated routes to explore the wonders along the way. There are 5 areas in the Wetland Reserve: Pui Pui's Home, Stream Walk, Succession Walk, Mangrove Boardwalk, Wildside Walk & Butterfly Garden


Pui Pui's Home
Salt Water Crocodile "Pui Pui"


Stream Walk
You will find the characteristics of different reaches of the stream.


Succession Walk
Explore the change of species as the habitat changes from open water, through floating plants like water lilies, emergent plants like reeds, to finally wet woodlands


Mangrove Boardwalk
Become part of the mangrove habitat as you enjoy the floating boardwalk experience.


Wildside Walk
Go through the furthest extent of the reserve, this walk encompasses seasonal pools and a mixture of woodland and grassland.


Butterfly Garden
On Wildside Walk, there is a Butterfly Garden which is the best place to watch butterflies. The Garden is planted with over 30 species of food plants and nectar plants that is the common food for butterflies.

Special Remind!!
On 4 November 2010, the theatre will be closed to the public.
Due to programme re-arrangements, the theatre will be closed to the public on 4 November 2010. Visitors may enjoy film shows "Where Wonders Begin - Our Wetlands" and "A Glimpse of the Breeding Black-faced Spoonbill" at the Viewing Gallery.
